As readers we truly comprehend what they're going through and while rooting for them to see what the other has to offer, we also get quite a few laughs. She managed to write them both with a great deal of love so he does not come off as childish or selfish and she does not come off as cold. I loved how Sarah Mayberry described the two main characters. She's his family and now she wants out of the magazine and away from him physically. He's hurt when he realizes what she's doing since she means everything to him and always has. He's fairly slow on the uptake and even when he realizes he loves her too, he still thinks she wants to be friends. So she wants to break all ties with him to be able to get what she wants. Unfortunately for him, his best friend has been in love with him since she was 16 and has realized that she wants a family and that he can not provide it. He lives in the now, having fun surfing and co-running a magazine with his best friend. He's one of those guys who never seems to grow up - if growing up means having a family and creating a future. Unfortunately she's too good a friend because the hero only sees her as that. She was smart, sporty, tough and a good friend. I loved the hero and heroine of this story.
